Dear Sunyashniki,
More than 5000 kilometers away from your vibrant golden, radiant sunflower fields, here in the Sultanate of Oman, the morning sun wakes me up to a thousand desert rose, and darkness makes me witness the shower of twinkling meteors.
Nature has blessed my second home with a dazzling sky, pristine shorelines, and honey-golden desert sands. Nature’s ability to allure must lie in such diversities, I believe.
Your golden glow, here, comes with a price. I pay my florist, a Rial (USD 2.59) , to hold you in my palm, sniff you, bring you home, boosting the chi in my apartment. The radiant yellow of that single piece of you in my transparent glass bud vase is nada compared to the field, where you bloom in a bundle. Yet your sunshine glow in my room never dims.
Recently, I met Iryna Zezhlo in Dubai. You must know her. She comes from Lutsk, a city in the northwestern part of your land. Her sunshine smile avouch your loveliness. Her eyes throws a glimpse of you and the lushness of Ukraine.
I admire this queen bee who hums the yellow mellow of the sun-kissed fields where you dance. I can, but only in fantasy, through her words, walk by those lush Ukrainian sunflower fields, where your million golden petals adore the sun, swaying to the breeze that flows by. I wish to behold the pomp you sprinkle and the ornateness you drape. For sure, you bloom in grace, turning the pasture into a utopia.
I learned that your lush field has the caring hands of diligent gleaners, helping you thrive while you grow to track the sun as you feel the breeze and host the bees.
How are you of late? Iryna told me that you’re suffering the rage of mankind. My heart bleeds to think – the wrath of those unforgiving shards wringing your delicate parts and charring your silky yellow petals.
But, you, my dear Sunyashniki – you the brightest of all; you, who resemble the sun on land; you, the messenger of peace and symbol of strength and honesty – hold on to your charisma. For, the day when peace shall triumph over tankers, I plan to visit those flashy fields and behold your luminance that soothes the weary minds.
I am sending you my message through Iryna, with a hope to hear from you soon, and wishing you a happy blooming always.
Love
Your anonymous anthophile
